Ghana has bright future in shooting - Serbian instructor
A Serbian Olympic shooting instructor, Nemanja Mirosavjev, has predicted a great future for shooting as a sport in Ghana, after opening an eight-day training session for the national team, the Black Snipers, at the Armed Forces Rifle Range in Accra.
Mirosavjev arrived in Accra last Monday at the invitation of the Ghana Shooting Sports Federation (GSSF) to help improve on the technical know-how of the snipers for them to make an impact in the Olympics by 2020.
In an interview with the Graphic Daily last Sunday, Mirosavjev said "Ghana have a great future in shooting and I believe they will make an impact in the sport at the Olympics by 2020".
"The only problem is with the range, which should have been an indoor one, as this place is too windy," he said.
However, the president of the GSSF, Cillian Walsh, said the training session with the Olympian was part of his outfit's five-year development plan towards Olympic 2020.
He contended that having someone of Mirosavjev’s experience in the country would help develop the skills of the athletes at all levels and hinted of a possible collaboration with other international coaches to help with the development of shooting in the country.
