Government donates $50,000 each to Asante Kotoko, GoldStars for CAF inter-club competitions

The Government of Ghana has extended financial support to Asante Kotoko and Bibiani GoldStars, providing each club with $50,000 to assist in their preparations for the upcoming CAF Inter-Club competitions.

President John Dramani Mahama announced the donation when the two teams and their technical handlers visited the Jubilee House on Saturday, September 20.

He said this initiative underscores the government's commitment to supporting local football clubs in their pursuit of success on the continental stage.

Ghana, one of Africa’s most storied footballing nations, has a proud history of producing clubs capable of competing with the best on the continent. However, financial challenges often impede their progress, making interventions like this crucial.

Asante Kotoko, the nation’s most decorated football club, is expected to channel the funds into strengthening its squad and upgrading infrastructure ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

With a rich legacy and a passionate fanbase, Kotoko’s performance in Africa carries significant weight—not just for the club but for the reputation of Ghanaian football as a whole.
