Hearts host Aduana Stars as Premier League returns Sunday

Accra Hearts of Oak’s new trainer, Sergio Traguil, will seek to return the team to winning ways at home as the Phobians play host to Aduana Stars at the Accra Stadium on Sunday, as the Premier League returns after a break last Sunday to accommodate the President’s Cup matches.

After last Friday’s loss to Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the President’s Cup,  the Portuguese has another fine opportunity to restore Hearts pride against an impressive Aduana side, whose fortunes have improved since the signing of Romanian coach Aristica Cioaba, whose team will be led in attack by the Premier League’s leading marksman Yahaya Mohammed.

The two sides played a 1-1 draw in the first round fixture at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

The prospects of moving to the summit remains the greatest motivation for both sides -- Hearts are in third position on the league log, just a point off leaders Wa All Stars, while Aduana are in fourth position and two points shy of the leaders.

At the Wa Park, All Stars look favourites to add Ashgold to their victims and also to maintain their unbeaten home run, particularly as the trio if Kotoko, Hearts and Aduana are breathing heavily down their necks and could knock the Wa side off their perch if they fail to win at home.

Coach Michael Osei’s Kotoko will be buoyed by their President’s Cup win against Hearts when they play against 13th-placed Inter Allies at the Tema Stadium, while 14th-placed Bechem United will seek to escape the drop zone when they host ninth-placed Berekum Chelsea in a regional derby at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park at Bechem.

Bottom club New Edubiase United must work extra hard if they want to bag the maximum points against Liberty Professionals at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park at Bekwai, while the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast will be full of fireworks when Ebusua Dwarfs play Sekondi Hasaacas, who defeated Bechem United 3-1 last Thursday to move up to the 10th position on the log.

CAF Confederation Cup campaigners Medeama SC play twice this week, first against WAFA in an outstanding match at Sogakope on Wednesday before playing host to sixth-placed Dreams FC at Tarkwa on Sunday.
