Accra Hearts of Oak have appointed former Black Stars goalkeeper Richard 'Olele' Kingson as the club's new goalkeepers' coach as the Phobians continue their rebuilding process ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The appointment forms part of the club's restructuring efforts following two successive trophyless campaigns.
He will now work alongside Bosnian coach Nebojsa Kapor, who was appointed last week and is expected to lead the club for the next two years.
Announcing the appointment on X on Monday, July 27, the club described Kingson's return as a homecoming.
"Some journeys always lead back home. Today, we proudly welcome one of Ghana’s finest goalkeepers, Richard Kingson, as our new Goalkeepers’ Coach. Let’s build the future together. ," the club said in a statement.
Although Kingson played for one of Hearts of Oak's fiercest rivals during his playing career, he has maintained a strong relationship with the Phobians and has now accepted the opportunity to join the club's technical team.
The 47-year-old brings a wealth of experience, having earned more than 90 caps for Ghana and represented the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
He played a key role in Ghana's historic run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and also featured in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
At club level, Kingson enjoyed successful spells in Turkey, Sweden, England and Cyprus, establishing himself as one of Ghana's most accomplished goalkeepers.
