The management of Dwarfs, in consultation with the Board Chairman, took a tough decision to relieve Coach Sarpong of his post last Monday due to a poor run in the ongoing Ghana Premiership.

In reaction to the unfortunate decision later in the day, the outspoken coach told the Daily Graphic that he bore no grudge against Dwarfs.

“I bear nobody any grudge. They gave me an opportunity and I enjoyed a good working relationship with them,” he revealed.

According to Coach Sarpong, despite the short notice he deemed it as an opportunity to move on to seek fresh challenges elsewhere.

“The coaching job is like that. I thank the management, board and supporters of Dwarfs for their support during the period I worked with them.”

To underline the cordial relationship that existed between the two parties, Coach Sarpong was offered a three-month salary as compensation to be paid in due course.

“You are also kindly being requested to contact the Administrative Manager to arrange for the payment of any arrears of salaries and/or bonuses due you,” a dismissal letter dated May 9, 2016 and signed by the Board Secretary, J.F. Mensah, added.

The letter explained that the management arrived at that decision following the club’s early elimination from the MTN FA Cup, as well as the poor showing in the league, in which they have earned only nine points from 11 games.

“We take this opportunity to express our utmost appreciation for the invaluable services you have rendered to the club. We are most grateful,” it stated.

The club went on to wish the veteran coach the best of luck in his future endeavours.

Coach Sarpong was engaged by Dwarfs on a rescue mission two seasons ago. However, after failing to save them from relegation, he managed to steer the club back to the elite division this season.
