Ghanaian youngster Caleb Yirenkyi has pledged to work hard and justify Coventry City’s decision to make him their record signing after reportedly paying about €30 million for his services.
Yirenkyi, who was unveiled by the English club last Friday, expressed his delight at joining the team and said he was ready to learn, develop and give his best to help the club achieve its ambitions.
The talented youngster acknowledged that he was still at an early stage of his career and would therefore approach the new challenge with humility and a willingness to learn from his new teammates and coaches.
“I’m excited to be at this club. I’ve heard a lot about it and I feel really optimistic about being here. When I spoke to the head coach about the plans and the style, I realised it was something I really like, and I’m looking forward to learning from him,” Caleb began by saying in statements to the club’s official platforms.
“I want to give my best for the team every day. I’m still young, so I want to learn from the head coach, from the other players, and work hard for the team. I’ve also heard a lot about the fans — they’re amazing and I can’t wait to play in front of them,” he added.
Coventry City, who recently secured promotion to the Premier League, officially announced the signing of Yirenkyi last Friday night.
The 20-year-old Ghanaian midfielder leaves Nordsjaelland, the club with which he had even been linked to FC Porto.
Although the clubs have not disclosed the transfer fee, the English press reports that the deal was agreed at a fixed €27 million, with a further €3 million possible through the achievement of sporting objectives.
If confirmed, this fee makes Caleb Yirenkyi Coventry City’s most expensive signing ever and one of the biggest sales in the history of the Danish league.
The midfielder recently represented Ghana at the 2026 World Cup under Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz.
This season, he has already taken part in four official matches for Nordsjaelland and is now preparing to move to the Premier League, where he will be coached by Frank Lampard.
