Kenichi to rediscover winning formula at Ashgold?

Accra Hearts of Oak’s head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi, has admitted his future with the Phobians looks unclear following the club’s declining performance lately, and on Sunday the Japanese-American will have to return the Phobians to winning ways away to Ashantigold to ease the pressure on his and him players.

The two sides clash at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi in the top fixture of the ninth week this weekend, with the defending champions also desperate to reverse their poor run, having won just two out of 10 matches this season.

Hearts started the season on a flying note but have gone three matches without a win, whereas the Obuasi lads are in 10th on the league log with an uninspiring home record — they have won just one and drawn two out of four games at the Len Clay Stadium.

Nonetheless, Bashir Hayford’s side, who defeated New Edubiase United 2-1 last Wednesday, boast a better head-to-head record, having won six of their last nine clashes at Obuasi.

Both managers recognise the importance of a win to their future, with Ashgold supporters already calling for the head of Coach Hayford, who is aware a loss could send them further down the table and also push him closer to the exit door.

League leaders, Wa All Stars lost their unbeaten run to Bechem United last Wednesday but look poised to return to winning ways when they play host to struggling Inter Allies at the Wa Park.

Coach Herbert Addo’s side, who have not won away this season, face a hurculean task at Wa where All Stars are unbeaten in four matches and are tipped to record their fourth home win to widen the gap at the top.

Rejuvenated Kumasi Asante Kotoko is favourite to win at home against New Edubiase United at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors seem to have discovered their winning spirit under the control of stand-in coach Michael Osei, who has guided the team to straight league wins against Liberty Professionals and Dreams FC in Kumasi and Dawu respectively.

These performances by Kotoko have brought back the smiles on the faces of their teeming supporters who expect the team to add New Edubiase to their list of victims, particularly with the visiting team having a disappointing season and currently lying at the bottom of the log with just one win in eight matches.

In the other fixtures, Techiman City and Bechem United are set to thrill football fans at Techiman when they clash in a regional derby at the Nana Gyeabour Park.

After splitting points with Hearts in Accra, sixth-placed WAFA return to their Sogakope base to play host to Ebusua Dwarfs, while Berekum Chelsea will also welcome Dreams FC to the Golden City Park.

Aduana Stars welcome Medeama SC to Dormaa-Ahenkro, while Sekondi Hasaacas play Liberty Professionals at Essipon.
