Kotoko Faithfuls donate to orphanage

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Faithfuls have donated variety of items, comprising foodstuffs, toiletries and clothing worth GH¢2,000 and an undisclosed amount to Save Our Lives Ghana Orphanage at Anwiankwanta in the Ashanti Region as part of their collective social responsibility.

The owner of the orphanage, Madam Paulina Opei, a trained midwife, received the items and cash on behalf of the inmates and expressed her profound gratitude to the group for such a wonderful gesture towards the enhancement of the lives of the children. She further appealed for more from the Faithfuls and other supporters groups.

The president of Faithfuls, Mr Yaw Amo Sarpong, who led the delegation, expressed his astonishment at the professional manner in which the orphanage was being operated, considering the quality of infrastructure and the upkeep of the children, which could be compared to orphanages in the Western world, although funding remained a major challenge to the orphanage.

He further reiterated the group’s commitment to change lives and assured the orphanage of their intention to do more within their means, as well as establish long-lasting relationship with the home.

The donation formed part of activities of the 4th semi-annual congress of Kotoko Faithfuls on the theme: “Structural Restoration of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC... the role of Faithfuls”.

It is intended to chart a path towards the preparation of a five-year development plan for Kotoko.
