Kotoko goalie not perturbed by Black Stars snub

Kumasi Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan has reiterated that he is not upset by his frequent Black Stars snub as he continues to work hard in his career.

Annan has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Ghana Premier League but his national team call-up has only been limited to the Black Stars B team as the second choice goalkeeper.

The talented shot stopper maintains that he is not discouraged as he has confidence that his time will surely come in due course.

“I am not too worried when I don’t get Black Stars calls-up because I believe in time and patience.

Every call up made by the coaches has to be accepted since they know players they want for every assignment.

All I want to do is keep working hard and I know my chance will surely come,” Annan told the Graphic Sports.

“I am a person who loves to learn and do a lot of research about good things that help me to improve.

I learn a lot from top goalkeepers but I grew up taking Eric Van Der Sar as my role model.

I believe I can get even better and reach that status one day,” he added.

Annan, who was in post for Kotoko when they held his former club WAFA to a 1-1 draw at Sogakope in the opening week of the Ghana Premier League, could not hide his disappointment at Kotoko’s first round exit in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“It was a great performance from both legs against CARA but I really wished we had qualified to the next stage but that is football and we have to move on as a team.

I always try to do my best for the team and will always give my 200 per cent best anytime I wear the precious Kotoko shirt,” Anna said.

“I know the fans will expect a lot from me this campaign because of my performance last season for the club.

It’s a big task for me of which I am aware and training extra hard to keep the same consistency and improve even more.

I can assure the fans that I will keep giving out from my heart and I am always ready to give 200 per cent for the success of Kotoko.”
