Egyptian player on trial at Ashgold

Egyptian player Hassan Mahmoud Mohammed Maghribi says he is excited at the prospects of playing in the Ghana Premier League as he undergoes trials at AshantiGold with the hope of signing for the Obuasi-based club.

Maghribi, a product of the Zamalek academy with previous experience in Europe, told the Graphic Sports that Ghana had a rich history in African football and he felt a sense of pride to get an opportunity to play in Ghana and was hoping for a successful career with the Aboakese lads.

The Egyptian was at the Len Clay stadium in the company of his manager to watch Ashgold play against Liberty Professionals in a friendly match last week.

He told this paper that he had a strong desire to succeed in Ghana football and could not wait to make his first appearance for the Soccer Miners.

“I enjoyed the game and it gave me an idea about how competitive the league is here. I know I can be successful, Insha Allah!” stated Maghribi.

The player’s manager, Alexander Nkrumah, spoke highly of the Egyptian’s ability to succeed in Ghana, having previously played at Turkish side Galatasaray and CSKA Moscow of Russia.

“I think his coming is a blessing for us all, we are now working things out for him to play.

For now, he is training with Ashgold, and in the care of Champion Divine [one of Ashgold’s new owners].

“His spirit is here. He expressed the desire to play in Ghana when we were deliberating on his next move.

He loves Ghana football,” said Mr Nkrumah of Russia-based sportswear firm, Mayniak sports.
