Kumasi Indece Tennis: 4 Garrison thrash Sakumono
Kumasi-based 4 Garrison Tennis Club kept their reputation intact with a complete annihilation of Sakumono Tennis Club, trashing them 13-7 in a special 59th Independence Day tennis in Kumasi.
The four-day competition, which started last Thursday, and sponsored by the Royal and Access banks, attracted one of the biggest participation at the 4 Garrison court.
Led by the president of the club, Samuel Ampadu-Kyei (Kyikyiss) and Captain Amereka, the host team took their guests to the cleaners, especially in the singles.
While 4 Garrison thrashed Sakumono 8-1 in the singles they lost the doubles 5-6 to bring the total score to 13-7.
Playing without their talisman and ace broadcaster Kwame Sefa Kayi, Sakumono demonstrated and showed that their strength lay in the double as they appeared to have confused their hosts on a number of occasions.
With the exception of Brenda Sutinga, who lost her singles match against Augustina Yamak 5-7, all the other players from the 4 Garrison won their matches with ease.
The Chairman of the Sakumono club, Joe Biney, promised to donate 50 bags of cement to support the construction of a clubhouse for 4 Garrison.
Present was the Command Officer for the 4BN, Lt Col Fuseini Salifu.
