The statement called on the Stars and their technical handlers to remain united as a team, stay focused and approach each game with confidence and tactical discipline.

“In the 2006 and 2010 World Cups in Germany and South Africa respectively, the team proved to the world that, it is capable of conquering the world by their progressive performance and we admonish them to make history by becoming the first African country to win the world cup.

"We urge them to see each opponent surmountable and not allow any ‘big name’ in the tournament to intimidate them, but be full of hope, high in spirit and depend on God to win the troph,” the statement said.

The Council said it would continue to pray for the Black Stars.
