Asante Kotoko jump to summit of 2024/25 GPL table

Kumasi Asante Kotoko climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) table after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Accra Lions at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

The crucial win was secured by Albert Amoah, who netted the game's only goal in the 48th minute, lifting the 22-time champions to 11 points and their first appearance at the summit of the league this season.

Elsewhere, Nsoatreman FC delivered a dominant performance at the Nana Konamansah Park, defeating Legon Cities 3-1. Richard Acquah opened the scoring early in the ninth minute, followed by Walid Neymar Fuseini’s strike in the 27th minute. 

Anokye Mensah made it 3-0 by the 39th minute, while Mohammed Alidu grabbed a late consolation for Legon Cities in the 90th minute. 

The result leaves Legon Cities still searching for their first win of the season.

At the Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea earned a narrow 1-0 home victory over Premier League debutants Young Apostles, thanks to Mezack Afriyie’s 72nd-minute goal. 

Vision FC also recorded their first home win of the season, defeating Basake Holy Stars 1-0, with Daniel Yemoh’s 45th-minute strike securing the victory for the home side at the Nii Akraku Adjei II Complex.

In a thrilling contest at Naa Sheriga Park, Karela United rescued a point with a last-minute equaliser in their 1-1 draw with FC Samartex.

Godwin Sefah opened the scoring for FC Samartex just before halftime, but Hadi Mohammed scored in the 90th minute to save the home side from defeat.

Dreams FC continued their tough start to the season, losing 1-0 at home to Nations FC. Naful Sulemana’s 80th-minute goal sealed the victory for the visitors, leaving Dreams FC still winless and in need of urgent improvements.

GoldStars FC secured a narrow 1-0 win over Bechem United at the Duns Park in Bibiani, with Michael Nkoah's 32nd-minute goal proving decisive.
