Manchester City coaches train young Ghanaian talents in special QNET football clinic

Global direct selling company QNET, in partnership with Manchester City, has launched a five-day football clinic in Accra aimed at nurturing young football talent and promoting youth empowerment through sport.

The clinic, which began on Thursday, May 20, and will conclude on Sunday, May 24, 2026, is providing 25 promising Ghanaian footballers aged between eight and 11 with an opportunity to receive professional coaching and mentorship from coaches affiliated with the English champions.

Organisers said the initiative forms part of QNET’s corporate social responsibility drive to support youth development across Africa, irrespective of gender, social background or economic status.

Officials of QNET explained that participants would undergo intensive football training sessions covering technical drills, tactical awareness and physical conditioning, alongside personal development lessons centred on teamwork, discipline, leadership and perseverance.

“The primary goal is to provide young footballers with access to expert coaching, essential skill development, and mentorship that will enhance their abilities and help them reach their full potential,” Chief Operating Officer of QNET, Trevor Kuna, stated.

The training sessions are being led by Manchester City coaching staff and are designed to ensure equal opportunities for both boys and girls participating in the programme.

QNET previously organised a similar football clinic in Nigeria in May 2023, where training sessions were conducted by official Manchester City coaches in collaboration with former Super Eagles coach Johannes Bonfrère, who guided Nigeria’s Dream Team to Olympic football gold at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

According to organisers, participants for the Accra edition were selected through a scouting and evaluation process that assessed talent, commitment and potential among young footballers from different regions of Ghana.

One of the young participants described the opportunity as a major turning point in his football journey.

“It’s like a dream come true. I am just grateful to QNET and Manchester City for this chance to learn from world-class coaches,” he said.

Beyond football development, organisers noted that the clinic seeks to equip participants with important life skills that can positively influence their personal growth and future ambitions.

QNET indicated that its long-term vision includes creating sustainable development pathways for talented young footballers, including future mentorship and support programmes that could help participants transition into professional football careers.

The company also called on local football clubs, businesses, government agencies and non-governmental organisations to support the initiative to expand opportunities for young people through sport.

QNET has maintained a partnership with Manchester City as the club’s Direct Selling Partner for more than a decade. In 2018, the company became the first-ever sleeve sponsor of the Manchester City women’s team in a landmark partnership within the FA Women’s Super League.

The company is also an official partner of the Confederation of African Football, supporting major continental competitions including the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup and Super Cup.

“Through its longstanding commitment to football sponsorships across Africa, QNET aims to unite the continent by promoting inclusivity and nurturing emerging talents, creating a vibrant community of young footballers who can inspire future generations,” Trevor Kuna added.
