Mazembe out, Zamalek advance

The Moroccans, coached by former Real Madrid boss John Toshack, scored late in DR Congo to earn a 1-1 draw.

Mazembe had taken the lead after 28 minutes when Mali defender Salif Coulibaly headed home a corner from Ghana's Solomon Asante.

Reda Hajhouj equalised in injury time, in a match that Mazembe created many chances.

Zamalek, coached by former Birmingham City and Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish, grabbed a late equaliser against Mouloudia Bejaia to progress 3-1 on aggregate.

Setif, African champions in 2014, were held to a goalless draw at home by Sudan's Al Merreikh but advance on the away goals rule having drawn the first leg 2-2 away.

Last Tuesday, Zesco beat Mali's Stade Malien 2-1  to complete a 5-2 victory on aggregate and become the first team to reach the Champions League group stage.

The draw for the group stage will be held on  May 24 in Cairo, Egypt. —BBC
