McDan rewards tennis duo

The CEO of McDan Group, Daniel McKorley, has made a special cash donation to All Africa Games gold medalists George Darko and Wisdom Adzrago at his East Legon residence in Accra.

The gesture was in recognition of the tennis duo's brilliant showing at the just-ended African games when they defeated DR Congo in two straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in the men's doubles final.

The gold medalists received GH¢6,000 each, while each member of the team who made it to Brazzaville, including the coach and secretary general, received GH¢2,000 each.

An excited McKorley stated, “I asked you to come and break bread with me this morning so I say thank you. You have, indeed, demonstrated to Ghana and the entire continent that given the support, you will go places.”

“You came for my blessings before you left for Brazzaville and you didn’t let me down; I feel proud and elated as a contributor to the development of tennis in this great country of ours.

“You also showed that whatever I am contributing to Ghana tennis, you will support it to make sure that we become successful,” he added.

He pointed out that the feat had encouraged him and his company to add an international bite to the annual McDan Open Tennis, saying, “I did point out that the championship will go international last year. Your performance has given me the confidence that as we plan to involve other West African neighbours in our third edition, you won’t let me down.”
