In his address at  the 59th MTN Gold Cup tournament in Kumasi last Saturday, Mr Twum noted,“from our point of view, golf is a very exciting game, and our aim is to make it a popular sport in Ghana.“In this regard, MTN continues to sponsor quarterly CEO Invitational tournaments, which have all received great participation. He said, “activities lined up for this year’s Ashantefest can be classified under four main areas: commercial, community development, entertainment and sports.”

The main beneficiary of the tournament was Royal Golf Club’s Sammer Hagen, who picked the ultimate prize after recording an impressive score of 142 over two days in the Scratch event.

Constance Awuni, also from Royal Golf Club, dominated the ladies scratch section after recording 162 points.

For their effort, they each took home 48 inch Samsung Curve television, giant gold trophies, among other mouth-watering prizes.

Club President, Frankie Osei-Assibey, commended MTN and other sponsors for making the well-patronised competition eventful.

The Captain of Royal Golf Club, Francis Donkor-Baah, also commended Lady Julia, wife of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for her contribution towards unearthing young golfers in Kumasi.
