Mr Nyantakyi, who stood unopposed, promised to focus his next term on the development of juvenile football and the local league to appreciable standard.

As part of the plans, the GFA was going to think through a way of retaining the local stars in the local competition for longer periods while other marketing strategies would be employed to improve spectatoring.

Moments after being re-elected by the GFA Congress in Tamale, Mr Nyantakyi said the GFA was determined to improve the local league and blamed the media for giving too much attention to the foreign leagues.

“The FA has often been blamed for not doing enough for the local league, unfortunately it’s not the FA that shows the foreign leagues, but rather the media; nonetheless, what is happening is a source of worry to all of us and the GFA is going to turn its focus on how to improve the situation.”

While thanking the delegates for their overwhelming support and the repose of confidence in him, the GFA president, who has served terms already since the association was reformed 10 years ago, said he was also going to lead the plans to better restructure juvenile or colts football to be more beneficial by unearthing more talents for the nation.
