Great Olympics record first league win

Accra Great Olympics playmaker, Michael Osei, emerged as the hero of the day as he scored the winning goal to secure a 1-0 win over Bibiani GoldStars at the Accra Sports Stadium yesterday.

Osei’s winner ended the Accra-based side’s two-game winless streak after two draws with Bofoakwa Tano and Kpando Heart of Lions.

In a match highlighted by a spirited performance by both sides, the Wonder Club took the lead in the 47th minute after Osei’s precision strike from midfield hit the back of the net for the winning goal and victory, which moved Olympics to fourth place on the league log.

Missed chances

Midway into the game, both teams began to labour in search of goals but their efforts yielded no result as they wasted fine goal-scoring opportunities.

In the 33rd minute, Olympics missed a great chance to open the scoring after GoldStars goalkeeper Yaw Osei's clearance was swiftly intercepted by Matthew Agama but his shot at goal sailed over the bar.

After the break, Olympic took control of the game and made incursions into their opponent’s area which saw marksman Osei scoring the opener.

The homesters continued to exert pressure on the visitors with Samuel Abbey Ashie Quaye, Ebenezer Sekyere and Solomon Adomako making attempts at goal but they lacked the potency to convert the crucial.

Samartex thrash Bechem 4-1

At Samreboi, Bechem United suffered a 4-1 spanking by FC Samartex, with the home side fighting back from a 15th-minute lead by Augustine Okrah to score four unanswered goals.

Evans Owusu started the comeback for Samartex in the 22nd minute through a spot kick.

Samartex went ahead in the 66th minute through midfielder Emmanuel Keyekeh after a solo move, before a brace by Baba Hamadu Musa secured an important victory that sent the home fans into a frenzy at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.
