Opoku Nti threatens court action if...
Samuel Opoku Nti, General Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has expressed the club’s determination to seek redress at the FA and the law courts in a bid to reverse the decision handed them by the Disciplinary Committee last Tuesday.
Kotoko were declared losers in their August 2 league game which they won 2-1 against their arch rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

It followed a protest by Hearts against the use of striker Obed Owusu who, the Phobians argued, was ineligible for the game. The protest was subsequently upheld by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association(GFA).
But the defending league champions have given the Premier League Board (PLB) the strongest warning yet, to make the league ‘ungovernable’ if last Tuesday’s decision by the Disciplinary Committee was not reversed.
The threat triggered by a Facebook post by the club’s Public Relations Officer, Kwaku Ahenkorah, days ahead of the ruling by the FA’s Disciplinary Committee appeared to have gained grounds as fans flooded the various radio stations with calls to carry through the threat.
And the angry fans were further emboldened by an allegation by one of Ghana’s finest player ever, Rev. Osei Kofi, who called into Nhyira FM’s Sports programme to say that there was a grand scheme by the FA’s high office to run Kotoko down.
He traced his suspension from last Sunday’s MTN/ FA Cup final which Kotoko lost 1-2 to Medeama at the Essipon Stadium in Sekondi.
Rev Osei Kofi said the goal which was disallowed by Referee J. O. Lamptey should have stood, and by disallowing it confirmed his allegation.

From the fans’ representative on the Board, Kwaku Amponsah, (K5), to the very least person, everybody appears to have bought into Rev Kofi’s allegation that there were unseen hands at the FA planning to ‘work against’ the club.
But days after triggering the agitation, Kwaku Ahenkorah is calming the nerves of the fans, assuring them that every step was being taken to reverse the decision which made them lose six points and three goals.
