Ping pong: Abrefa beats Commey

National ping-pong top seed, Derek Abrefa, defeated third seed, Emmanuel Commey 4-2 in the final of the Chicken Inn/WestHills Mall table tennis tournament which took place last Saturday at the Westhill Mall in Accra.

The novelty competition, which attracted over 100 players of the game nationwide, saw the 25-year-old Abrefa of the Ghana Immigration Service and a student of the University of Cape Coast beat Emmanuel Ofori 4-1 in the quarter-finals before defeating second seed Felix Lartey 4-0 in the semi-finals to reach the final.

Abrefa, who overcame a flu this week to compete in the tournament, was rewarded with a 42-inch Samsung Flat Screen and an Infinix phone. Second- placed Emmanuel Commey received a microwave.

An elated Abrefa thanked the Almighty God and manager Charles Tachie-Manson for their support. He was also grateful to ASKY Airline for their continued sponsorship.

The General Manager of Westhills Mall, Jonathan Lotter, told the Graphic Sports the competition would see more upgrade and development involving female players next year.
