Last Tuesday, Tullow Oil Ghana Limited, in collaboration with RtD, launched the first branch in the region and subsequently offered 12 children who excelled in the justifier scholarships to study at the St. Peters International School in Tokoradi.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, Ekow Gyan, Deputy Western Regional Minister,  and some old and current Black Stars players as well as graduates of the academy who have turned professionals in Europe.

Mr Ayariga praised Tullow Oil for their gesture and, while urging other companies to emulate them, stated that his ministry was in talks with RtD Academy to help design similar modules to be implemented across the country so that sports can be developed through schools.

Charles Darko, General Manager of Tullow Oil Ghana, said they were committed to assisting RtD to implement their facilities within selected schools across the country and Takoradi represented the first stop of realising that step and added that the facility represented another milestone in the partnership between Tullow Oil Ghana and RtD.

Tom Vernom, founder and CEO of the RtD Academy, also said  the main idea behind the RtD School programme was to give talented youngsters the opportunity to develop their talent through a structured educational module.
