Sapholda Greater Accra Hockey League: GRA Royal Ladies maintain perfect start
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Royal Ladies kept up their perfect start in the defence of the Sapholda Greater Accra Hockey League women's division with a commanding 2-0 conquest of Police Ladies at the Theodosia Okoe Hockey Stadium in Accra last Saturday.
Mavis Berko opened the scoring with a drag flick in the second quarter before an own goal by Police Ladies' Evelyn Fiagdor in the last quarter secured the Royal Ladies their third in as many matches to move top of the women's league table with nine points.
The defending champions have also scored a mammoth 12 goals, with just one conceded and jumping three points in front of Police, who share second place with Army Ladies, whose encounter with Extinguishers was postponed due to technical reasons.
Elsewhere, Captain Benedicta Adobea Agyei converted a penalty corner in the final quarter to give Reformers of Ghana Prisons a first win of the 2025 campaign, 2-1 over Legon Knights. Felicia Offun gave Reformers the lead in the first quarter.
However, Belinda Amoah hit back for the Knights in the third stanza before Agyei's winner gave the Prisons ladies all three points after two defeats.
In youth exhibition games, Edward Amartey scored for Ark Boys through a penalty corner in the second quarter, which was equalised in the 3rd quarter by Michael Adjetey for Tema Manhean in a 1-1 draw, while Ark Giants earned a walkover against Young Financers.
Meanwhile, the men's division of the 2025 Sapholda Greater Accra Hockey League returns with the fourth-week encounters on Saturday, June 14, with leaders GRA drawing a bye. It offers defending champions, Exchequers of Bank of Ghana a good chance to catch up in their third game of the season against Legon Knights.
In other matches, third-placed Ghana Police target a return to winning ways against Ark Men, Reformers battle Army while Golden Sticks clash with Sapholda.
