Taysec to sponsor youth cricket
Engineering and Construction firm, Taysec Group of Companies, has pledged to sponsor cricked competitions in different age groups across the country to make the sport more appealing to the youth.
The Chairman and Managing Director of the firm, Asuama Yeboa Abebrese, made the pledge when he hosted the female and male teams of the Taysec Titans who placed first and second respectively in the just ended Under 15 and 19 Cricket championship at New Achimota Accra.
Both teams presented their medals and trophies to Mr Abebrese, and assured of their commitment to improve their game for them to win more medals and trophies in future tournaments.
The team, led by their administrator, Samuel Asamoah also presented a plaque and a certificate of participation to him .
Mr Abebrese lauded the efforts of the team and assured to offer his unflinching support for youth teams across the country.
He said with adequate support and enthusiasm by the youth, the sport , which is not popular in Ghana could grow and rub shoulders among popular sporting disciplines in the country.
While assuring to provide them with the requisite logistics and kits to enhance their training, he urged them to be focused and discipline to enable them win major international tournaments .
For his part, Mark Bawa,caretaker of the cricket academy, said the Under 19 team had qualified to participate in a cricket championship in Zambia .
He said plans were far advanced to recruit many youth on the street to join the academy .
