Vulnerable Ashgold face confident Hearts
Obuasi Ashgold are unlucky to be hosting Accra Hearts of Oak in their most vulnerable state when they are struggling to keep their head above water, while the Phobians seem to be rediscovering their form.

What could easily set the anxiety alarm in the Phobians’ camp some time ago, has been reduced to a discussion of whether Ashgold can survive in their own backyard tomorrow afternoon, as the Soccer Miners are yet to show any glimpse of hope after 10 weeks of action.
While Ashgold has been struggling, Hearts are picking up in form and the results of last Wednesday’s midweek action are enough evidence and a predicting to sound the alarm bells for Ashgold.
The team’s head coach, Bashir Hayford, jumped ship last week when the storm looked unbearable.
Last Wednesday, Ashgold suffered a 3-0 hammering by WAFA at Sogakope, Hearts discovered their scoring boots and recorded their biggest win of the season with a 4-2 routing against Bechem United.
Despite having talented players, Ashgold has not struck the right chord so far as nothing seems to be working in their favour.
The 2016 Premier League champions’ leaky defence has let in 19 goals and scored just eight, whereas the Phobians have a slightly better record of 11 goals scored and 10 conceded.
Indeed, time is running out for Ashgold who are last but one on the league log, and unless stop-gap coach, Yakubu Mambo, finds a quick remedy to their troubles, a confident Hearts side could further deepen the plight of the Aboakese side who lost 1-2 to the Phobians at Obuasi last season.
Coach Zdravko Logarusic will also have to find the winning tonic for Kumasi Asante Kotoko who host troublesome Ebusua Dwarfs at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Kotoko is yet to rediscover the winning formula since their controversial 0-1 defeat to Hearts in Accra and last Wednesday’s loss to Medeama at Tarkwa.
This saw the Porcupine Warriors slip from the top spot to third on the log behind WAFA and Aduana Stars, thus increasing the pressure on Logarusic to get the side back to winning ways.
There are equally interesting encounters on Sunday with Wilfred Osei Palmer’s in-form Tema Youth host Kwesi Nyantakyi’s unimpressive Wa All Stars at the Tema Stadium.
Bechem United host Inter Allies, Berekum Chelsea host Medeama at the Golden City Park, Great Olympics welcome Aduana Stars to the Accra Stadium.
In other matches, Elmina Sharks welcome league leaders, WAFA to the Nduom Stadium, and Bolga
All Stars will seek a second straight home win against Liberty Professionals at the Tamale Utrecht Academy Park.
