Wasiru reunites with Manager, signs new five-year contract
BOXER Wasiru Mohammed, also known as Gyatabi, has rekindled his professional relationship with Manager John Manfo, three years after their split.
The 28-year-old super featherweight, renowned for his impressive knockout rate of 92.31 per cent, has signed a new five-year contract with Manfo, marking a significant development in his career.

In an exclusive interview with Graphic Sports, Mr Manfo revealed that the renewed partnership would see Gyatabi fight in Germany later this year against an opponent yet to be announced.
The contract, which Mr Manfo describes as embodying high standards of professionalism, is expected to bring Gyatabi back into the international spotlight.
“They are working hard to get him in good condition and prepared for the fight in Germany,” Mr Manfo said.
“This new agreement underscores our commitment to real professionalism between Gyatabi, his coach, and myself,” he added.
The reunion follows a contentious split three years ago when Gyatabi and his manager parted ways due to an undisclosed dispute. During their separation, Gyatabi, along with a relative who acted as his spokesperson, had alleged financial discrepancies, which had a negative impact on his career.
Despite the past issues, Gyatabi recently made headlines with a notable performance at the Bukom Boxing Arena, where he scored a fifth-round knockout victory over Michael Akramah Tetteh on June 29. This recent success seems to have paved the way for the renewed partnership.

“I hope Wasiru will reach his peak condition and surpass where he was three years ago,” Mr Manfo said optimistically.
“With more maturity and a renewed drive to succeed, I am confident he will achieve greater heights,” he added.
Under the new contract, Mr Manfo disclosed that there was a clause allowing for an extension based on Gyatabi's performance, specifically his success in international titles. He declined to reveal specific personal terms and conditions, explaining that they would adhere to standard boxing contractual agreements.
Additionally, Gyatabi will resume training with his former coach, Lartekwei Lartey, at the Fits Square Gym in Accra. This move is expected to further enhance Gyatabi’s readiness for his upcoming fights and contribute to his overall development in the sport.
