Why former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has sued Dan Kweku Yeboah
Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has filed a defamation suit against sports journalist Dan Kweku Yeboah and some media platforms demanding GH₵10 million in damages.
Nyantakyi claims the defendants made “reckless and defamatory” allegations that have harmed his reputation and caused him significant personal distress.

He filed the suit on October 28, 2024 and it is specifically pointing to statements made by Dan Kwaku Yeboah on radio on Peace FM’s morning programme.
During the broadcast, Yeboah allegedly accused Nyantakyi of misappropriating GFA funds, saying he withdrew US$2 million from GFA’s account at Unibank “for personal benefit.”
Mr Nyantakyi argues that this accusation has caused substantial damage to his public image and personal life. He contends that the statements were published with “malice or spite” and alleges that the defendants knew, or were reckless regarding, the falsity of the information.
“The defendants published or caused to be published the said words complained of knowing they were false and reckless as to their truth or falsity,” the suit states, further suggesting that the intention behind the allegations was to tarnish his reputation.
Nyantakyi asserts that the fallout has been extensive, with concerned friends, family, and associates from Ghana and abroad contacting him in response to the broadcasted claims. He is now seeking a GH₵10 million settlement as compensation for the alleged harm done to his reputation and mental well-being.
