World Cup 2026: Otumfuo to watch Black Stars Group L opener against Panama in Toronto

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will be at the BMO Field in Toronto, Canada, on June 17, to watch Ghana Black Stars' Group L 2026 World Cup opener against Panama.

Graphic Online understands that ahead of the game, the Asantehene will boost the morale of the team with a visit to their camp.

The Asantehene was in Poland last week and travels to Canada from there.

He will be the Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Business Summit, taking place in Toronto, Canada, from June 15 to 21.

The event is being organised by the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce and its partners.

After the Black Stars opener in Toronto, the team will travel to Boston in USA for the second group match against England before moving to Philadelphia for the final group match.

Ghana has been drawn into Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and facing Panama, England, and Croatia in that order.

The fixtures are as follows:

  • June 17: Ghana vs. Panama at BMO Field, Toronto (11:00 pm GMT / 7:00 pm ET)
  • June 23: England vs. Ghana at Boston Stadium (9:00 pm GMT / 4:00 pm ET)
  • June 27: Croatia vs. Ghana at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia (10:00 pm GMT / 5:00 pm ET)

The Black Stars will be looking to build on their previous World Cup performances, having made it to the quarterfinals in 2010. With a talented squad, but said to be lacking team cohesion under a new manager, Carlos Queiroz, the Black Stars will be aiming to make a deep run in the tournament.
