All monies have been transferred to BoG — Ecobank

Corporate Communications Head of Ecobank Ghana, Reverend  Mrs Patricia  Sappor, says all indirect taxes collected on behalf of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) by the bank have been transferred into the consolidated fund account at the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Accra, Rev. Mrs Sappor said all the monies were promptly transferred into the designated account at the Bank of Ghana.

Last week, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, sitting on the Auditor-General’s report, cited the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) and Ecobank Ghana for unduly delaying the transfer of indirect taxes collected on behalf of GRA into the Consolidated Fund.

But Ecobank said it had always acted responsibly by transferring all monies due the GRA into the designated consolidated accounts at BoG promptly.

“I wish to confirm Ecobank’s position that all monies collected on behalf of the Government were duly paid by Ecobank  into the designated Account at Bank of Ghana,” she said.

Rev. Sappor noted that Ecobank was a good corporate citizen and would always act responsibly to contribute to the development of the country, as it had always done.

“Ecobank  will continue to support the Government of Ghana in its revenue collection,” she assured.
