Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has for the first time topped the list of the world's richest people published by Forbes magazine.
Bezos is estimated to be worth €90 billion up almost €32 billion from last year.
Bill Gates dropped to the number two spot, with a fortune estimated to be worth €72 billion.
Gates was the richest person in the world for 18 out of past 24 years.
The Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett is worth €69 billion dropping to the third spot, while Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH is ranked fourth with a fortune of €58 billion.
Arnault is the only non-American in the top five.
In the fifth spot is Facebook-founder Mark Zuckerberg with a fortune worth €57 billion.
Alibaba's Jack Ma rounds out the top 20 valued at €31 billion.
According to Forbes magazine, there are 2,208 billionaires in the world, up from 2,043 in 2017 with 259 new billionaires joining the club.
