American Chamber of Commerce donates to foundation

The American Chamber of Commerce (ACC) in Ghana, has presented a cheque for GH¢ 30,000 to Tech Needs Girls, a foundation that mentors girls in computer coding.

The Tech Needs Girls Foundation has currently enrolled 205 girls in computer programming who are being assisted by 15 mentors who are either computer scientists or engineers. They serve as mentors and role models and teach the girls to code. They are currently working with girls from the slums and ensuring that each girl gets to go to the university instead of being forced into early marriage.

Making the presentation, the President of the Chamber, Mr Joe Mensah, said the donation was intended to assist the foundation to enable it to continue providing such essential support to the less privileged in the society.

He said the chamber's contribution was motivated by the commitment of Tech Needs Girls to empower the next generation of female leaders in the science and technology industry.

The Treasurer of the Chamber, Ms Doris Afanyedey, thanked members who contributed financially to the chamber's charity projects.
