Coca Cola adapts to consumer changing taste - Commits to healthy beverages with more natural attributes

The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited (TCCBCGL),part of the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Group, is the authorised bottler of Coca-Cola beverages in Ghana.

TCCBCGL is located at Spintex where it produce and distribute some of Coca-Cola’s multi-million-dollar brands including Coca-Cola, Fanta and Sprite. For more than 25 years, TCCBCGL has provided daily refreshment for many Ghanaian homes with the promise of sharing happiness that delights consumers, and this has been executed through rigorous enhancement of our route-to-market and approach to understanding varying consumer needs.
COVID-19 support With the outbreak of COVID-19, the company swiftly channeled resources to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Actions such as donation of PPEs to health centres; provision of food items and beverages to vulnerable communities and frontline workers were quickly implemented.
Additionally, an on-air public education programme on an Accra-based radio station, was carried out to create awareness about the pandemic and educate the public on preventive etiquettes.
Furthermore, as part of the commitment to fighting the pandemic, from November 2020 to May 2021, a contribution of GH¢745,000 has been made to the Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund through the company’s consumer support programme where for the sale of each bottle of a 1.5L Coca Cola, Fanta or Sprite,10p s remitted to the fund.
As an environmentally friendly company, 60 per cent of the company’s products are sold in returnable glass bottles which have less impact on the environment as post-consumer waste.

In partnership with other eco-conscious companies, under the Ghana Recycling Initiative by Private Enterprises, GRIPE, the company continued to invest in effective plastic waste management systems to beat plastic waste pollution.
The company’s World Without Waste sustainable packaging goal seeks to collect and recycle every bottle or can we sell globally by the year 2030. In Ghana, a key effort being made in this regard is the partnership with other stakeholders to create collection points for used plastics and to sensitise communities on the need to have a litter-free environment.
All these actions and activities are implemented through a dedicated staff who have been developed over the years through aggressive retention and management training programs.
