In April this year, the Council launched a plan set to run from 2023 to 2027 to enhance collaboration among the 13 CSIR institutes, expedite the achievement of its objectives in real time and boost the Council's contribution to national development.

At the 9th annual thanksgiving service at its head office in Accra, the  Director General of the CSIR, Professor Paul Pinnock Bosu, said to successfully execute the strategic plan, all staff of the council must exert considerable effort.

“We have the strategic plan that we are implementing, we started this year 2023 and my assessment is that we are still taking baby steps. As we enter 2024, let us all rise and ensure that whatever we have to achieve in our strategic plan for the next five years we work hard to achieve them,” he said.

Thanksgiving service

The thanksgiving service is a yearly celebration by the Council to commemorate the goodness of God throughout the year despite challenges along the way.

He expressed the hope that the new year would turn out well for the organisation as it continued its role of scientific and technology research, development and implementation, and the transfer of the results of research in Science and Technology to relevant institutions and agencies.

With scripture readings, songs and praises, prayers and dancing, staff, clad in their company cloth, demonstrated their gratitude to God for keeping them productive in the service to the nation.

The choir lighted up the day with sterling song ministrations made up of melodious Christian hymns, Ghanaian choral compositions, and a medley of gospel tunes.

Rev. Dr Emmanuel I.K. Addo of the Anglican Church in a word of exhortation urged staff to keep trusting God even in challenging moments.

The Director of Administration, Genevieve Yankey, said “CSIR has a lot to thank God for this year, especially for his providence, abundant grace and protection. During the year various projects were birthed including the launch of the Food Systems Resilience Programme (FSRP) and another phase of the Modernising Agriculture in Ghana (MAG).

We have been able to fight to reclaim some of our lands which we are grateful for. It has been a wonderful year and we look forward to another year with more rewards and benefits.”
