Huawei Technologies Ghana has expressed the confidence that its new smartphone, the Huawei G Power, which it introduced onto the Ghanaian market recently will continue to exceed the expectation of customers because of its features, especially its superior battery performance.

The company said it had already sold thousands of the G Power devices after consumers realised that its strong battery performance could enable them to charge other smart devices with it.

“With the unique reverse charging feature, the G Power can be used to charge other smartphone devices; and all one has to do is to simply connect the G Power to a USB port of any smartphone that needs charging using a USB cable,” the Country Manager for Device Business at Huawei Technologies Ghana, Mr Robin Sun, said in a statement copied to the Daily Graphic.

The Ericsson Mobile Penetration report for 2015 indicates that smartphones use across Africa will grow at a cumulative average of 25 per cent, from 170 million last year to 690 million by 2020. Mobile data traffic per person will also increase by 30 per cent within the same period.  This lends credence to the growing market of smartphones in Ghana.

The G Power has eight unique in-built power saving technologies that maintain optimal battery power even after using it to charge other devices. With a 4000mAh battery capacity, the G Power gives normal users 90 hours of light use, 48 hours of heavy use, 39 hours of call time and 15 hours of non-stop web surfing.

“The Huawei G Power will give users the luxury of enjoying all the key features of their smartphone devices, without bothering about the battery life,” said Robin Sun. He added: “Users can also use the Huawei G Power for two days without charging.”

The dual-SIM Huawei G Power Smartphone, though a mid-range device, boasts of several features of flagship devices.

Enhanced for low light, the Huawei G Power comes with a 13-megapixel camera that makes it possible to take high-quality photos during the day or at night and a 5MP front camera.

Huawei is currently the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, with a 44 per cent year-on-year increase in smartphone shipments in 2015.
