First private jet terminal will attract businesses — Daniel McKorley
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the McDan Group of Companies, Mr Daniel McKorley, has said the newly inaugurated private jet terminal at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra is to help position the country as a preferred destination for investors.
It would also create opportunities of mobility for investors seeking business to close deals under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), he added.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration of the terminal last Friday, Mr McKorley said the facility was developed to open up the aviation industry to push Ghana towards its dream of becoming an aviation hub in the West African sub-region.

“This terminal is designed purposely to attract more businesses into the country within the shortest possible time, and this is what the country needs for its middle-to-high-end businesses,” he added.
Lounge
He said the facility, which has offices and conference rooms, would offer travelling investors and business people the opportunity to close deals at the terminal lounge without entering the city of Accra.
He said already the office of McDan Aviation (the aviation wing of the McDan Group) was inundated with enquiries from firms in Nigeria and other parts of the world about its operations.
“Now a private jet is no longer a luxury; this is what McDan Aviation is bringing to the diplomatic corps, politicians and the business community.
“We must have the can-do spirit to champion projects such as this. My nature is to help build the country; my presence is to make a difference and make a big impact,” the CEO said.
He said it was about time the people took the country into their own hands and drove its vision into the next generation.

“I have been working in the aviation and shipping industry for the past 30 years and my goal is to put my country as a brand to be recognised in the world.
“My goal as an individual is to build what I can for my country for it to grow and take its rightful place in the aviation industry,” Mr McKorley added.
Appreciation
A Presidential Advisor on Media and Strategic Communications, Ms Oboshie Sai Cofie, expressed appreciation for the development of the terminal.
“It is the culmination of a long journey, beginning from when I saw Mr McKorley with his proposal, which had been sitting at the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) for a while. I am proud that I have been part of this journey.
