The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), has conferred fellowships on the Director of Marketing at Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr Franklin A. Sowa, and the Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Noel Kojo-Ganson.
The two marketing giants were conferred at the 31ST CIMG President’s Ball held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday.
The CIMG in a release said the honour was for consistently being excellent marketing professionals, influencing and creating impact as team leaders through the application of knowledge and skills into strategic direction of the various organisations they have worked with over the past years.

It was also for their commitment to the advancement of CIMG and the marketing profession is undoubtedly enormous.
The event was chaired by the CIMG Marketing Man of the Year 2020 and CEO of MTN, Mr Selorm Adadevoh, who was pleased with the opportunity to interact with other industry heads, including Board Chair of the Business & Financial Times, Dr Mrs Edith Dankwa.
The theme for this year’s CIMG President’s Ball was, “Repositioning Ghana Globally as Africa's Finest Democracy in Contemporary Times”.
Delivering his address, the National President of CIMG, Dr Daniel Kasser Tee stated that the chosen theme “affords us the opportunity to build upon the earlier theme for the 32nd Annual National Marketing Performance awards, held in November, which was, Repositioning Ghana to leverage AfCFTA for economic development.”
According to the National President, it is the hope that theme will provoke marketing thinking and draw attention to the beautiful democratic journey of Ghana, which the world has not paid proper attention to and Ghana, on her own, has also not Marketed well enough.
He further intimated that “this theme will prompt Ghana, as a body corporate and all other units operating within, whether in the public or private sector to actively work towards repositioning Ghana as a beaming democracy, reasonably and relatively matured, compared with her peers, in order to attract the attention of the global investor community, including Tourists and other leisure travellers, to consider Ghana as the must-go-to destination in Africa.”

"Ghana is well placed to be an attractive destination for investors across the world. The country proudly counts as one of the most stable politically, judging from the stability witnessed in nearly three decades, since we started the multi-party democracy experiment from 1993.
“We have, certainly passed the experiment with distinction, with political power changing hands smoothly from one political party to another on three different occasions in about 24 years”, he explained.
Dr Kasser Tee added that “the unparalleled change of power with the slimmest margin of less than 1% of valid votes cast in the 2008 presidential elections is a case in point. Not to mention the prompt and smooth transition, following the demise of our late president, H. E. Professor John Evans Atta-Mills in 2012.”
Beyond political stability, Ghana’s economic growth in the last 15years has been largely boosted by oil production, which is now a critical sector of the economy, culminating in an economic size of USD72.4billion. According to the World Bank’s latest report dubbed “African countries with the highest Gross Domestic Product over time”, Ghana has emerged the 8th biggest economy in Africa. The report is based on the total monetary value of all goods and services produced within the economy in 2020.

The CIMG President’s Ball, apart from the pleasantries associated with it, provides a platform for the National President to touch on any topical issue of national interest and how marketers can take advantage or anticipate any risks.
It allows the institute to establish close relationships with other professional bodies, the business community, and other stakeholders; the admission of new members made up of CEOs, managers, entrepreneurs, etc.
It also affords the business/marketing community the rare opportunity to meet, network, exchange information and conduct business together in the right ambience.
