GOGA honours industry players, journalists & young achiever
The Ghana Oil and Gas Awards (GOGA) on Friday awarded 31 companies and 11 individuals at its 6th 2019 awards aimed at recognizing the achievements of players in Ghana’s upstream and downstream oil and gas industry.
The winners from local and international companies in the country’s oil and gas sector were awarded in both honorary and competitive categories in recognition of their roles in growing the industry.
Speaking at the ceremony held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, the Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr Amin Adam expressed government’s commitment towards the growth of the oil industry, stressing the need for increased production, enhanced value chain, and local content for wealth creation.

The Ghana Oil and Gas Awards remains the largest industry initiative dedicated to championing industry excellence and endorsed by the Ministry of Energy in Partnership with stakeholders like the National Petroleum Authority and Ghana Oil and Gas Service Providers Association.
Dr Amin Adam said to realize more revenue from the petroleum exploration activities for national development, there is the need for building proven reserves through sustainable exploratory activities.
As the nascent industry evolves, platforms such as GOGA created by Xodus Communications, which bring industry players - downstream and upstream players to celebrate hard work - share ideas and chart new paths.
He said since the inception of the industry in the country, productions have been from same old fields, however there is hope for a better outturn, emphasizing the need to build more proven reserves and hence the need for exploration for new discoveries.
The awards initiative showcases trends in the industry, companies’ activities and achievements in the past year and rewards excellence in local content, stewardship, health and safety, corporate social responsibility and more.
Events Director at Xodus Communications, Richard Abbey Jnr., assured the industry of sustaining the event which represents a cross-section of the oil and gas stakeholders - government, upstream, midstream and downstream industry players, regulators, civil society, financial institutions, insurers and others.
