Huawei supports schoolchildren
Thirty most disciplined and well-behaved students from each of the ten regions were selected and flown to Accra to interact with the President at the Castle.
Huawei, which supported the maiden encounter in 2009, has for four years running presented educational kits at a ceremony at Accra Girls Senior High School in Accra today.
The Public Relations Director of Huawei Technologies, Mr Geoffery Li said the company’s decision to partner government, followed the high premium the company placed on education.
“We think education is a key factor in the development of both an individual and the nation, hence our focus to invest in the sector”, Mr Li said.
He added that the provision of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories to four public universities nationwide at a cost of GHC3million was a key development Huawei had made in the sector.
“We are expecting to hand over an ICT Laboratory to the University for Development Studies in February 2013 to further boost ICT study among students”, Mr Li said.
He said the success of every corporate entity was hinged on the people within its catchment area, hence the need to improved the quality of lives of people would remained a key value to Huawei’s operations.
