Nestlé Ghana rewards retailers, sub-wholesalers in Accra

Nestlé Ghana Limited has rewarded 900 retailers and sub-wholesalers in the Greater Accra Region for their support, dedication, and loyalty, which has helped the brand to excel in the food and beverages industry.

During the "Nestlé Retailer/Sub-Wholesalers Engagement 2024" event held in Accra on Thursday, the partners received various cash prizes to reinvest in their businesses.

The Loyalty Engagement series aimed not only to reward retailers and sub-wholesalers but also to provide them with valuable business insights and gather their feedback on the various Nestlé products they work with.

The series began in the Eastern and Volta regions, where over 300 retailers and sub-wholesalers were honoured with cash prizes to reinvest in their businesses.

Upcoming, the series will move to the Western Region, with the final segment planned for the Ashanti Region. 

Winners

Mr James Afful of Distributor and Co in Teshie was adjudged the overall Best Retailer/Wholesaler 2024, based on high sales achievement and solid business infrastructure, including warehousing and manpower management. For his prize, Mr Afful took home GH₵50,000 as reward.

Mr Dominic Banks Amakye of Tillivert Enterprise was adjudged the second best winner and he received GH₵30,000 as reward

The third position went to Benjamin Chief Owusu of Many Means Enterprise who took home a cash prize of GH₵20,000.

Speaking at the event, National Sales Manager for Coastal Cluster (Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia), Jacob Christian Odoi said the move was geared towards building stronger relationships with the retailers and sub wholesalers to make them be a part of the Nestlé brand. 

“The important thing is that we have a good relationship for our customers, especially for our trade partners. So here we are talking about our sub wholesalers and our retailers and the important thing is to build a stronger relationship with them for the future,” he said.

“So we decided that instead of giving them little items why not put it in a grand scheme and then reward them appropriately so that is why we are here today – to reward our loyal retailers and our sub wholesalers,” he added. 

Mr Odoi also mentioned that his outfit understood the current economic challenges in the country hence rewarding their loyal retailers and sub wholesalers with such huge amounts of money to keep them in business.

“We are going throughout the whole country and the next region is Western and Central. Today, you know the economic situation in the country, so the most important thing is that we keep investing with our trade partners so this is just one aspect of it. 

“Again, we are looking at many other things to encourage our retailers and our sub wholesalers to stay in the game. We don’t want them dropping out because of the economic challenges so we keep investing in them, we will keep having sustained relationship and at the end of the day we will give them loyal rewards as well,” he added.

Funding

Speaking on how to access funding, Business Manager, UBA, Louisa Agbakpe encouraged the participants to explore social media tools to market their businesses.

“We need to expand our customer base as retailers and wholesalers. Use social media. Take advantage of the various social media tools to increase sales. Don't think that your business is small, trying and keep data of your customers so that you will know the kind of business you offer to them,” she said.

On funding she said: “Access to good financing is key to the growth of your business. If you get people to give you advice on the kind of loans that you need at a particular point in time, it will boost your business.”
