VIDEO: Watch Brandon Thomas-Asante's goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup
Coventry City's Ghanian forward, Brandon Thomas-Asante, produced a memorable moment in their Carabao Cup third-round clash against Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite Coventry’s valiant effort, Tottenham completed a late comeback to win 2-1, knocking the Championship side out of the competition.

The game saw Thomas-Asante give Coventry a well-deserved lead in the 63rd minute, showcasing his sharp attacking instincts. The 24-year-old was at the heart of a swift counter-attack, confidently sweeping in Norman Bassette’s low cross from close range. His clinical finish was the highlight of Coventry's performance and marked his second goal in the competition this season.
However, despite Coventry’s strong performance, Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs turned the game around late in the second half. Djed Spence equalized in the 88th minute, connecting with a pass from Dejan Kulusevski to set up a tense finale. The drama continued deep into added time, as Brennan Johnson completed the comeback for Tottenham, slotting home after a brilliant through-ball from Rodrigo Bentancur.
Tottenham’s 2-1 victory secured their place in the last 16 of the competition, ending their two-match losing streak. Coventry, though eliminated, will take pride in their performance, especially the form of Thomas-Asante, who has now scored twice in this year’s cup run.
Following Coventry's exit, Thomas-Asante, who recently featured in Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, will shift his focus back to domestic league action.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged the difficulty his team faced, stating, "We had to just hang in there somehow, and we did. We weren’t fluent or cohesive... one result doesn’t change that."
The defeat brought Coventry’s cup run to an end, but Thomas-Asante’s goal remains a moment to remember for the Championship side's fans.
