Shatta Wale: I retired from music three years ago, I’m a business man

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that he retired from music three years ago, but his actions continue to tell a completely different story.

In an interview with media personality Bola Ray on Thursday, May 28, Shatta Wale stunned many when he boldly declared that he had stepped away from music and was now concentrating on building his business empire.

Asked by Bola Ray whether he was financially secure enough to comfortably retire, Shatta Wale responded: “I retired three years ago.”

The statement immediately raised eyebrows, especially considering the fact that the musician remains one of the most active entertainers on the Ghanaian music scene today.

Far from disappearing from the spotlight, Shatta Wale continues to release songs regularly, perform at major events and headline his annual Shattafest concert, which consistently attracts massive crowds across the country.

Currently, the On God hitmaker is even in London promoting an upcoming edition of Shattafest in the UK in August, a move many fans believe contradicts his retirement claims.

Over the past few years, Shatta Wale has maintained a strong presence on streaming platforms and social media while also keeping his fanbase, the Shatta Movement, constantly engaged with new projects and performances.

Despite insisting he has retired from active music, the artiste explained that his attention has now shifted more towards business ventures.

“Yes, I’m doing business. Hot Wave, Shaxi,” he told Bola Ray.

The dancehall musician also hinted at major projects in the pipeline, disclosing that he has international business connections in countries like China and Dubai.

“Something explosive is coming,” he said, adding that his app developers recently created an online marketplace for Tuesday Market, which was launched just a day earlier.

“So that is what we launched yesterday, and it’s beautiful,” he stated.
