A new energy saving equipment dubbed “Ultra - Energy Management Equipment (Ultra),” has been introduced on to the country’s power and energy market through a sole distributor, Hanergy Oil Ghana Limited.

Ultra, which is manufactured in South Korea by Keseco, is expected to help reduce electricity costs between 11 and 38 per cent on both domestic and commercial users when installed.

Ultra consist of industrial, commercial, and regular series and it ranges between GH¢1,600 to GH¢200,000.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hanergy Oil Ghana Limited, Mr Hugh Aryee, said the company intended to open branches to sell the equipment across the country.

That, he said, would help augment the energy situation in the country in order to save and even sell to other countries.

He said decreasing energy consumption was now not only a moral responsibility in terms of protecting the environment but with energy costs rising rapidly, it was an economic necessity.

Focus on Ultra

According to him, Ultra is the first technology in the world and in Ghana which provided a simple solution that delivered financial savings and reduced environmental impact.

“Ultra is the world’s first patented energy management equipment that does not use power factor compensation or voltage regulations to save energy,” he said.

Since Ultra uses a patented technology that does not rely on any form of electronics or mechanical parts, the average life span is over 15 years, if it is used in recommended conditions.

The product uses parallel installation and it is usually installed after a circuit breaker. However, dispersed installation for each circuit is also possible and installations takes about 30 minutes per unit.

“When Ultra is installed between 11 to 38 per cent of your electricity bill will be reduced. This equipment is authenticated by several world inspection bodies and it also has been tested and verified by the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA), as well as the Energy Commission,” he said.

“The equipment does not cause any harmful effect on the installed system, unlike other energy saving devices that drop voltage, adding that Ultra did not consume any voltage or current,” he added.

He said the company was optimistic about the Ghanaian market and would ensure the product was installed in every home and in companies to save energy for the country.

Minister lauds Ultra

Touring the exhibition stands at the 7th Annual Ghana Summit, the Petroleum Minister, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, said product such as Ultra will help the country save energy.

He said as the global electricity consumption and cost were continuously increasing year after year, it was important for the country to adopt a product such as Ultra that will help reduce energy consumption.

“It is a good product that will help the country save more power and I think the distributors need to be commended,” the minister said.
