Nominations open for maiden Responsible Business and Leadership Excellence Awards
ION Africa Business, organisers of the Responsible Business and Leadership Excellence Awards (RBLEA™) have opened nominations for its maiden awards ceremony.
The awards which comes off on Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra cuts across the Banking, Aviation, Information Technology, Telecommunication, Manufacturing and Retail sectors.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to open nominations for the awards, Project Manager for the RBLEA, Mr Robert Emmanuel Kaye said the awards is aimed at championing the implementation of sound business governance and systems, and also prevent practices which hinder social development.

He said the RBLEA also seeks to celebrate and reward innovative solutions that are geared towards the upliftment of society.
"It is both a responsibility and prerequisite for businesses and business leaders to emerge in the current economy, as pioneers in steering forth the creation of inclusive economic growth," he said.
Objective
He mentioned that the objective of the award is to create a network of professionals who are committed to furthering the sustainability agenda for businesses while recognising individuals and organisations that have excelled in business and corporate sustainability leadership.
Criteria
Mr Kaye noted that the criteria for shortlisting nominees would be based on some key performance indicators (KPIs) and a survey by the Market and Consumer Insight, a research company that would handle the technical aspects of the awards, and an awarding board which includes Professor Wayne Dunn, Founder and President of the CSR Institute, Dr Diana Hyemann - Adu, a Senior Lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and Nana Annor Amihere II, National President, Ghana Institute of Safety and Environmental Professionals
Categories
Some of the award categories for the event are the Responsible CEO of the Year, Responsible Trade & Investment Leader of the Year, Responsible CSR and Community Development Impact Award, Responsible Brand of the Year, Responsible Business and Leadership Company of the Year and Industry Personality of the Year.
Others are the Responsible Female Business Leader and the Responsible Young Business Leader of the Year Awards that will recognize exceptional leadership and managerial skill in a female business leader, who in spite of stiff competition in a male-dominated world, has shown resilience and courage in building a worthy brand, as well as young business leader aged 40 years and below, whose outstanding business successes and verifiable business journey have made them role models and inspirational success stories in the market place respectively.
