President John Dramani Mahama has designated the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, to lead Ghana’s high-level delegation to the 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in Indiana, USA.
The congress, scheduled for June 2–5 in Indianapolis, will bring together thousands of entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and innovation leaders from over 200 countries. It is organised by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) under the auspices of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
Themed “The Bold Transforms the World”, this year’s GEC aims to highlight the transformative role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth and global prosperity. The event is regarded as the world’s premier cross-sector forum on startup ecosystems and innovation-led development.
In a statement announcing the delegation, Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, Country Founder of GEN-Ghana, said: “I believe President Mahama’s decision to designate Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare underscores Ghana’s strong commitment to advancing entrepreneurship and private sector-led growth as a cornerstone of its economic transformation agenda.”
According to Mr Gyasi-Kwaw, the minister will participate in the GEC Ministerial Summit, engage in bilateral meetings, and take part in investment forums and high-level dialogues focused on job creation and innovation.
The Ghana delegation will include government officials, private sector actors, entrepreneurial support organisations, and representatives of the Ghanaian diaspora. Together, they aim to showcase Ghana’s investment opportunities, particularly in agribusiness, and to forge new partnerships to accelerate inclusive growth.
The congress presents an opportunity to align Ghana’s startup ecosystem with global trends while boosting support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). It also complements the country’s economic diplomacy efforts aimed at fostering public-private collaboration.
GEN-Ghana, which is coordinating Ghana’s participation, is the local chapter of the Global Entrepreneurship Network headquartered in Washington, USA. The organisation works in over 160 countries to support entrepreneurship through cross-border collaboration, ecosystem development, and innovation programmes.
Since its establishment in 2010, GEN-Ghana has impacted over one million people and played a pivotal role in supporting startup founders of enterprises such as Farmerline, Impact Hub, Kudigo, and Silicon Accra.
Indianapolis will be the second U.S. city to host the congress since its inception in 2009, joining a list of former host cities including Dubai, Istanbul, Milan, Johannesburg, and Rio de Janeiro.
Organisers say this year’s edition will be the largest yet and have encouraged interested parties in Ghana to join the delegation by contacting GEN-Ghana via email at skwaw@genglobal.org or phone at +233 24 643 6929.
“Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of the world’s biggest gathering of entrepreneurs and innovators,” the organisers said.
