Sankofa Natural Spices brings hope to James Camp Prisons with ‘Good Food for All’ Project
Sankofa Natural Spices has officially launched its "Good Food for All – Didi Yie" project at James Camp Prisons in Accra, bringing the benefits of proper nutrition to inmates as part of its commitment to promoting healthy living for all Ghanaians, including the less privileged.
The event, held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, saw inmates served nutritionally balanced meals prepared using Sankofa Natural Spices, which is 100% natural and free from preservatives, MSG, and salt. The initiative aligns with global health concerns, as a study by the National Library of Medicine has shown that unhealthy diets contribute to non-communicable diseases and premature mortality worldwide.
Speaking at the event, Marketing Lead for Sankofa Natural Spices, Rosemary Sackey, explained the motivation behind the initiative.
"We have come to realise the need for everyone to eat right and eat well to be healthy. This project was born out of our commitment to reach the less privileged and show them the love and care they deserve," she stated.

She added that the initiative is not only about providing healthy meals but also serves as a unique opportunity for inmates to engage with the outside world.
Encouraging Rehabilitation Through Community Engagement
The Officer in Charge of James Camp Prisons, Mrs Augustina Mensah-Fiadzo, commended the project, highlighting its impact on rehabilitation efforts.
"We mandate safe custody, rehabilitation, and reformation. For too long, our work within the prison has been hidden. Today, the public sees our efforts to help inmates prepare for life beyond these walls. After long periods of isolation, our inmates need opportunities to interact, develop talents, and rediscover their potential," she noted.
The event featured various recreational activities, including rapping and dancing, designed to make the inmates feel loved and valued.
A key highlight of the event was the discovery of talents among the inmates, with one emerging as a promising musician, demonstrating the potential for growth with the right support and mentorship.
Mrs Mensah-Fiadzo stressed that by allowing controlled access to external partners, the prison is able to showcase talents developed within its walls and provide additional support to inmates preparing for reintegration into society.
The "Good Food for All" project is set to expand beyond prison walls, as Sankofa Natural Spices plans to visit communities and organisations in need. Through cooking demonstrations and interactive sessions, the company aims to spread the message of healthy eating while engaging and uplifting underserved populations.
This initiative is in line with Sankofa Natural Spices’ mission of changing lives through food. Proudly made in Ghana for Ghanaians, the brand remains dedicated to providing wholesome, additive-free alternatives to improve the well-being of all.
