In what is expected to take competition in the banking industry to another level, the bank launched two credit cards: the VISA infinite credit card and VISA platinum credit card as part of its efforts to delight its customers.

The VISA infinite card comes with unparallelled benefits, including complimentary travel insurance of up to US$ 2.5 million, worldwide emergency services and unlimited airport lounge access for the cardholder and a guest.

Holders of the infinite card also get to earn five times rewards on travel, and purchases at supermarkets and filling stations.

The platinum card also provides customers with three times reward on shopping and dining and also provides rewards for all other purchases, as well as purchase protection for up to 30 days. Holders of this card also get to redeem their rewards via a comprehensive rewards platform.

The Head of Retail Banking of Standard Chartered Bank, Mr Henry Baye, speaking at the launch of the cards, expressed the bank’s commitment to provide world-class products and services to its clients.

He said the bank was focused on bringing the latest in cutting-edge digital capabilities to the market.

“The launch of the VISA infinite credit card, which is the first in Ghana, marks another milestone in the bank’s 120-year history in this market,” he noted.

“The credit card will change the culture of transacting business in Ghana while we move towards a new era of becoming a cashlite society,” he added.

Easy and convenient banking

The Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Mrs Mansa Nettey, for her part, said the introduction of the VISA cards was in line with its goal of making banking easier and more convenient.

“Our aim is to provide our clients with the widest range of options possible in facilitating their banking transactions,” she noted.

“The benefit of credit cards goes beyond the client to the overall economy as it leads to increase in spending levels and positively impacts on GDP,” she added.

She said the bank was focused on bringing world-class products and services to its clients and the introduction of the new credit cards was no exception.

She added that the Standard Chartered VISA credit card had wide coverage and was accepted at over 23 million merchants and ATMs across the world.
