Dubbed: “Abusua Akyɛdeɛ,” the promotion is designed to encourage groups of families, friends or associations to save together and get a boost in their savings while winning fantastic prizes. The juiciest of the prizes is a GH¢150,000 cash to be won.

The campaign themed: “Save today, take tomorrow” is expected to run from July 2017, to the end of December this year.

At the launch (July 5) in Accra, the Managing Director of the bank, Mr Dolapo Ogundimu, said the promotion formed part of the company’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion by ensuring that financial services were available to Ghanaians from all walks of life.

He said over the last few years, “we have used our promotions and other campaigns to help bring the unbanked into mainstream banking, but ultimately our promotions have focused on one key message - savings”.

He explained that the theme of the campaign was an expression of the bank’s quest to support its customers to create the future they envisioned for themselves through healthy savings habit.

“As we discussed and prepared towards launching this promotion, I could not help but apply to my own life and how it would resonate with our customers,” he said.

Mr Ogundimu observed that the bank was using technology to reach the under-served and unbanked segments, through its latest product innovations such as Mobile Banking Service, Access Mobile Application, Access pay and Access Trade.

“These products are without doubt supporting our customers to optimise the opportunities available to them while improving their businesses and lifestyles,” he added.

Promo details and prizes

Giving details of the promotion, the Divisional Head of Retail Banking at the bank, Mr Stephen Abban, said it was open to all existing and new customers and added that there was a wide range of flexible saving options for individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He stated that to enter the promotion, a group of customers must come together to create a group with at least two friends or family members or relatives.

“To enter the promo, the group must deposit a minimum of GH¢500 in their account,” he said, and added that SMEs must also maintain a minimum deposit of GH¢1,000 and keep depositing to increase their chances of winning.

Mr Abban said there would be four monthly draws and two mega draws to reward winners.

He noted that group winners would walk away with GH¢150,000, a brand-new SUV family car, holiday trips, educational scholarships, shopping spree and one-year life insurance cover

“SME winners will also walk away with GH¢40,000, desktop computers, money counting machines, fireproof safes, insurance cover and printers,” he added.

Fair and transparent

He stated that all customers had an equal chance of winning any of the prizes in the promotion, saying: “The promotion will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner under the supervision of the National Lotteries Authority.”

The Head of Business Promotion at the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Mr Ekow Incoom, said the authority was committed to ensuring that the promotions were conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.

“The NLA as a regulator will ensure that the promotion is conducted in a free and transparent manner,” he said.
