Your next visit to ‘Indomie Food Seller Joint’ may be a pleasant surprise

New recipes and hygienic preparation of your morning or evening tea and Indomie noodles is what you may get, the next time you visit your favorite ‘Indomie Food’ seller. This is because some 200 sellers who sell cooked Indomie noodles and beverage popularly known as tea sellers, will be trying their hands on some innovative cooking skills and several new recipes, after participating in a training workshop.

This event, which was organized by Indomie Instant Noodles team, was to improve the culinary skills of the participants and to train them on how to prepare their meals under very hygienic conditions. The training was followed by some insights on cooking & hygiene training by Chefs from Holiday Inn, by Food Scientists and Public Health experts from Kedi Health Care. Officials from the microfinance wing of Ecobank, Pan-African Savings and Loans Company (formerly EB Accion) also took the sellers through basic business management.

The Indomie Food Sellers were selected from 10 different suburbs of Accra including James Town/ Korle Gono/Chorkor area, La/Osu, Teshie, Nungua, La Pas, Madina, Tema and Ashaiman among others. Every participant was given a certificate for successfully completing the workshop with some lovely hampers.

The participants were delighted about the training and one of them from Madina said “this is was a great eye opener for me. I try to sell under hygienic condition but what I have learnt today is super and I’m going to do more. My finances will be better managed and I’m going to delight my customers with new recipes…I’m so excited!”

Having participated in the workshop, the sellers are now expected to add the new recipes to their menu and to place more focus on hygiene than before. In order to ensure that skills and knowledge acquired is put to practice, officials from Indomie will embark on mystery shopping and the best will be selected for a cooking competition with mouthwatering prizes, Events Manager of the De United Foods Industries limited, Agnes Botchway explained.

Zonal Sales Manager of Indomie, Ben Nsia-Asare said the mystery shopping will take place between now and October 24, when the three people selected from each of 10 suburbs will show off their skills during the competition.

Team Indomie plans to do this event very often, so as to ensure the best of hygiene conditions in each and every Indomie Food Seller joint across Ghana.
