NITA Director General wins Industry Personality Award

The Director General of National Information Technology Agency (NITA), Mr William Tevie, has received the Industry Personality Award at the fifth Ghana Telecom Awards 2015.

This year’s event was on the theme “Celebrating Excellence in the ICT Industry”.

A citation accompanying the award acknowledged Mr Tevie for leading the agency to embark on a computer science project, the biggest in the country - the E-Government project. 

A release issued in Accra from the NITA office said, “The project is said to have enabled infrastructure provision to the state agencies to facilitate communications system in both the public and private sectors”. 

It said the e-services and the Ghana electronic payment platform under the same project had enabled a number of government services to be transacted online. 

The release also mentioned that the Eastern corridor fiber-optic cables by NITA were seen to have contributed  enormously to the growth of telecom infrastructure in Ghana.
