The dark cloud over the Judiciary can be cleared

President John Dramani Mahama, at the inauguration of the new courts complex in Accra last Friday, stated that a dark cloud hung over the Judiciary following the alleged corruption captured in the Anas video.

His statement was informed by the shaken confidence of people in the judicial system since documentary evidence on the alleged corruption in the Judiciary was made public.

While we agree with the President that the very foundation of the Judiciary has been shaken since Anas’s exposé, we also believe that majority of the country’s judges have high integrity and morals which could promptly erase the dent over the Judiciary.

Added to that, the Chief Justice and the Judicial Council have already taken steps to keep the Judiciary on its feet, an indication that all is not lost.
